Congratulations to Topaz Fernandez on a successful reign as Miss Garden Isle! Topaz was working out at the Kauai Athletic Club following the scholarship pageant Saturday night where she gave up her crown.
Topaz happened to be doing her workout while the Camper was on assignment to get photographs of Randie and Kathy Peters, who were doing their own Isabody workouts.
Jim LaBau was one of the Ocean Count volunteers Saturday. He said he was the subject of a TGI article and photo about 10 years ago when he found a message in a bottle.
Kudos to Lani Tamanaha Broadbent (the whale photo was superb!) and Colleen Ogino, who did a great job filling in as site leaders for Marga Goosen during the Ocean Count.
Over at the Kapaa Lookout, even the cancer survivor Chieftain Berger got in the act, although Chieftain spent most of his time in the shade cast by the folding chair. Mary Jane Berger said Chieftain will definitely be part of this year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life coming up in April.
