HANAPEPE — Debbie Fitzgerald-Troche was thrilled to be able to spend the holidays in her own home.
Fitzgerald-Troche, a Kauai Habitat for Humanity homeowner, was busy processing contributions at the ReStore Tuesday.
“We are in our own home now,” Fitzgerald-Troche said. “We are very blessed to have Kauai Habitat for Humanity.”
Fitzgerald-Troche was introduced to the ReStore while her Anahola home was being built, spending time volunteering at the store where sales help Kauai Habitat for Humanity build even more homes.
From volunteering, Fitzgerald-Troche is now part of the ReStore staff, which will be celebrating its 22nd anniversary on Saturday.
“We’re going to have a Global Village team helping to re-do our dressing room so it resembles a house,” said Cynthia Dazzi, ReStore manager. “It’s even going to have a roof and doors.”
Dazzi said in honor of the 22nd anniversary, everything in the ReStore, including books to building supplies, will be on sale.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., customers can enjoy food, and throughout the day, door prizes will be given away.
“You just need to be present to win,” Dazzi said. “We’ve refined all of the departments, and we’ve gotten some really good quality contributions, so there is a good selection of items to shop for.”
The ReStore in Hanapepe is open Tuesdays through Saturdays. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. The ReStore is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
