Congratulations to all the Kauai Interscholastic Federation swimmers who posted state auto times, and especially to Bryson Baligad, who broke a KIF swim record Saturday.
Beyond those leaders, kudos to the other swimmers like Jack Machorek and Zachary Safford, who put on a good swim for second place in the boys 200 yard individual medley (Bryson took first). The swim meet offers a number of good races like that as it continues Saturday at the Kapaa pool.
Soccer (thank you, Greg Gonsalves for the game clock!) is also shaping up nicely as the Waimea boys (Tori Kagawa got to take in the boys basketball game, and Joyce Evens made it from swimming, too), under coaches Kapono Chong-Hanssen, Lindsey Ibara and Travis Kagaway, host Kauai High School (coach Mark Brandeburg stopped by to watch some of the Waimea-Kapaa action) at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Hanapepe Stadium.
OK, Duana Miyasato said Chef Martina Hilldorfer is getting excited about the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association, Kauai Chapter golf tournament on Saturday (lunch is at RumFire at the Sheraton Kauai).
