LIHUE — The Kauai Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating two fugitives.
Akira Nakuma Obatake, 33, is wanted by the U.S. Marshals for various charges relating to narcotics, firearms, and not showing up for a 10-year federal prison sentence in Lompoc, California.
With family on Kauai, authorities believe Obatake may be on island. He may be armed and is considered dangerous.
Obatake is a Hawaii-born man of Asian and Pacific Islander descent, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs roughly 165 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and medium complexion.
Arnette Mae Moniz has eluded capture since October, when she failed to check in with her parole officer. She is wanted by the Hawaii Paroling Authority on a no bail warrant for alleged parole violations and absconding. She has six felony convictions.
Moniz is a 48-year-old female of Portuguese descent. She is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs roughly 115 pounds. Moniz has brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion.
She is believed to be staying in the Kapaa area and is known to drive a white Toyota Tundra or gray Toyota Camry.
