Walter Palmeira
Walter “Wally” Seaman Palmeira of Wailua Homesteads passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on December 15, 2014, at the age of 81. He was born in Kilauea, Kauai on February 18, 1933. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard and was a long time Hawaiian music entertainer at numerous venues and most recently at the Hukilau.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy Borges Palmeira and brother, Antone Palmeira.
He is survived by his lifelong partner and loving wife, Nardeen “Polei” Palmeira; three daughters, Cynthia “Cyndy” (Allen) Racca, Waldeen Kahulu Palmeira, Darleen Palmeira; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jimmy (Belle) Palmeira, Ernest Palmeira; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at St. Catherine Church in Kapahi with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Palmeira family with arrangements.
Luciano Salud
Luciano Oba Salud of Hanamaulu, died on December 23, 2014 at the age of 91. Born on January 6, 1923, in Pasuguin Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a boiler room operator with Lihue Plantation Ltd.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Salud; parents, Estefania and Benigno Salud; and survived by his wife, Anita Salud; son, Romeo Salud of California; two daughters, Lucita (Westley) Kam of Oahu, JoAnn Salud of Lihue; four grandchildren, Brooke Salud, Cullen Salud, Taylor Salud Samiano, Marissa Kam; sister, Juliana (Fermin) Ancheta of Philippines; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the St. Michael’s and All Angeles Episcopal Church. Visitation will begin at 10AM – 12 PM services to follow and burial will be held at Kauai Memorial Gardens. The family suggests casual attire and are open to flowers.

Eskel Ford
Eskel Louie Ford of Waimea, Kauai passed away on December 23, 2014 at the age of 51. He was a security supervisor at Ching Young Village.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lenora and Elvin Ford.
He is survived by his stepfather, Larry Weigel (California), sister, Robbie (Dana) White (Missouri), and brother John Weigel (CA). He is also survived by Mariann, Patrick, Kristina, Jason, Wendy and many grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Kamalani Bridge from 12 noon until sunset. The hospice chaplain will speak at 1 pm. The gathering is a pot-luck and BYOB.

Michael Pantohan
Michael Pantohan, born on May 22, 1953, of Kapaa died on December 27, 2014 at Garden Island Health Care at the age of 61.
He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Pantohan; and daughter Tiffany Pantohan.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen Pantohan; son Curt (Tia Koerte) Pantohan of Waimea; two daughters, Michele (Kurt) Oshima of Lihue, Talia (Jon) Green of Ele’ele; mother, Rosa Pantohan of Kekaha; mother-in-law, Hatsumi Fujimoto of Lihue; two brothers, James (Rose Keale) Pantohan of Kekaha, Steven (Edna) Pantohan of Washington; two brother-in-laws, David Fujimoto of Kapaa, Bobby Fujimoto of Hanapepe; three sister-in-laws, Kathy Kure of Washington, Eileen (Charlie) Powell of California, Cora Fujimoto of California; four grandchildren, Randy Oshima-Kekahu, Kayla Pantohan-Kali, Loea Pantohan, Liloa Pantohan; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Kaumakani Sports Pavilion. Family and friends gathering will begin at 2PM with services to follow at 3PM.

Amado Aguinaldo
Amado Aguinaldo of Eleele, Kauai passed away on December 18, 2014 at Queens Medical Center at the age of 81. He was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator.
He is preceded in death by his wife Leonida Aguinaldo and his parents Juan and Generosa Aguinaldo.

Lucinda Ancheta
Lucinda “Cindy” G. Ancheta passed away on December 23, 2014 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 63. Born in Honolulu on October 9, 1951, she was employed by Hawaiian Telephone Co and was a devoted wife and mother.
Preceded in death by parents Walter and Agnes Silva, brother Vernon Gregory and Sister Ireiner Antenorcruz.
She is survived by her husband Fred Ancheta, sons Jonathan “JJ” (Mel) and Fred, daughter Rene (Albert) Cummings. Grandchildren Ashton, Casey and Aliya. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 12, 2015 at St Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapaa. Visitation will be 9-9;45am with mass to follow at 10am. Followed by burial at St Catherine’s Cemetery Kealia. Family requests casual attire.

Caroline Shklov
Caroline Patricia Shklov of Wailua Homesteads passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on December 26, 2014, at the age of 74. She was born on October 30, 1940 , in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada and was a retired treatment center counselor and an active volunteer at Kauai Humane Society.
She is preceded in death by her Dad, David Fremont Buell Kinloch and her Mom, Caroline Marion Kinloch.
She is survived by her husband, John Michael Shklov and children: Catherine (Geoff) Dolman, Colleen (Stewart) Williams, Christopher (Sheri) Strom, Micah (Carrie) Shklov, Keola (Monica) Shklov, Maile (Kalalena) Shklov-LumWon, Kanani (Nick) Deisher, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Scattering of her ashes will take place at Kalapaki Bay on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Noon. A celebration of her life will take place following the scattering of ashes at Kalapaki Park near the canoe clubhouse.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Edith Horsch
Edith Louise Horsch of Kalaheo passed away on January 3, 2015 at the age of 85. Edith was born in New Alexandria Pennsylvania, and was a registered nurse, homemaker, avid gardener and crafter, as well as being an active volunteer in the church.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob Horsch of Kalaheo, and sons, Rob, Ted, and Chris Horsch who reside on the mainland. She is also survived by 2 daughters Rebecca O’Brien of Kalaheo and Kate Johnson of Kaneohe. Edith has 10 grandchildren ad 10 great-grandchildren. She was 11th of 13 children and is survived by an older brother, Dick Koontz, of Pennsylvania. No public services are being planned.

Louis Almodova Jr.
Uncle Louie passed away on December 31, 2014 at Hale Kupuna at the age of 97. Born on October 24, 1917 in Koloa, Kauai, he was a supervisor with McBryde Sugar Company.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Almodova; parents Louis Almodova Sr. and Margaret Almodova; three brothers, Frank Almodova, Henry Almodova and Daniel Almodova; and sister, Sophie Ke-a.
He is survived by his daughters, Gerry (Thomas) Yamamoto of Hanapepe, Sandi (Ron) MacDonald of Ecuador and Patricia Ashley of Honolulu; son, Don (Jeriel) Almodova of Eleele; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, August (Bessie) Almodova of Honolulu, Benjamin (Diane) Almadova of Honolulu, and David (Ethel) Almodova of Utah; sister-in-law, Molly Almodova of Honolulu; and three sisters, Lydia Troche of California, Isabel Carvalho of California, and Marge (Tom Yamaguchi) DuPont of Pearl City.
Friends may visit with the family for a celebration of life on Saturday, January 10th, 2015 at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will begin at 8:30AM with mass at 10:30AM and a committal service to follow at the Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery at 3PM. The family suggests casual attire and to please omit flowers.

William S. Bair of Kekaha died on December 31, 2014 at home at the age of 73. Born on June 26, 1941 in Michigan, he as an Electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Kahalehoe-Bair; son Barry Brun; brother Mike Bair; and sister, Nancy Hunt.

Anna Kona
Anna Mae Kona died on January 3, 2015 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 83 and born on July 1, 1931, in Makaweli, Kauai.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred P. Kona; son, Wallis W. Kona.
She is survived by her son, Joseph A. Kona (Margaret) of Waimea; three daughters, JoAnn I. Borja (Roy) of Waimea, Rosemarie Poirier of Waimea and Theresa Marie Manatad of Waimea; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, MaryJane Cabral of Omao; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit at the gravesite with the family on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11AM at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery with a celebration of life being followed at Lucy Wright Park in Waimea.

Frederick Wichman
Frederick “Bruce” Wichman of Haena, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on December 30, 2014 at the age of 86. Born on June 20, 1928 in Honolulu, Oahu, he was an author and educator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Juliette Wichman; brother, Hobie Wichman-Goodale.
He is survived by his wife, Lorita Brandt Wichman; sons, David Wichman, Warren (Mutsuko) Wichman, Randy (Victoria) Wichman, Tony (Lorraine) Wichman, Steve Wichman; daughter, Lisa (Mark) Wizotsky, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Warren Kamiya
Warren Kamiya passed away on January 1, 2015 at Kauai Memorial Veteran’s Hospital at the age of 63. Born on August 30, 1951, in Waimea, Kauai, he was a retired welder with Kekaha Sugar Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Genichi and Hatsuyo Kamiya.
He is survived by his two sisters, Rachael Tafua of Kekaha and Janice (Rodney) Yamakawa of Mililani; two nephews, Francis Tafua of Kapaa and Daniel (Malia) Tafua of Kekaha; four nieces, Jonell (Vernon) Kaohelaulii of Ele’ele, Jannah Tafua of Honolulu, Allyson Yamakawa of Millilani and Christy Yamakawa of Mililani; 5 grand-nieces; 2 grand-nephews; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Family may visit with the family for a celebration of life on Saturday, January 10th, 2015 at the Waimea Baptist Church. Services will be held at 10AM.

Haruo “Dyna” Nakamoto of Lihue, passed away on December 8, 2014 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 93. Born on February 16, 1921 in Lihue, Kauai, he was a Local 142 Hawaii Division Director for ILWU.
He is survived by his wife Lily Y. Nakamoto; two sons, Van Nakamoto of Lihue, Wade (Betty) Nakamoto of Wailua Houselots; three daughters, Arleen (Denny) Sakai of Lihue, Marilyn Nakamoto of Honolulu, Gail (Donald) Kuranishi of Pearl City; two brothers, Haruki Nakamoto, Wallace Nakamoto; two sisters, Kathryn (Shigeo) Higa of Honolulu, Elsie (Sam) Takata of Lihue; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Asakichi and Taka Nakamoto; two brothers, Hajime Nakamoto, Richard Nakamoto; and sister, Namiko Ishizaka.
