LIHUE — The public is invited to the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration on Jan. 19, sponsored by the Interfaith Roundtable of Kauai at the Lihue Neighborhood Center.
The celebration, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will feature a free lunch, music, a video on King’s life and guest speakers. There will be breakout sessions offering opportunities for discussion with other participants, and information about service opportunities on-island.
Performer Blu Dux will lead participants in songs of peace and progress. Featured speakers include Cynthia Moore and Kumu Sabra Kauka, a teacher of Hawaiian Studies at Island School.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the formation of the Interfaith Roundtable of Kauai, a monthly gathering of representatives from a variety of faith groups from around the island dedicated to harmony and understanding.
