LIHUE — A three-car crash late Tuesday morning resulted in minor injuries to two vehicle occupants.
The accident involved a Nissan sedan, a Toyota pickup, and a Ford pickup. It occurred on the westbound lane of Rice Street, fronting Watamull Plaza at approximately 11:10 a.m., according to a county news release.
The 64-year-old male driver of the Ford pickup and his 20-year-old female passenger were both transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan sedan was a 32-year-old New York man, and the 69-year-old local driver of the Toyota pickup did not report any injuries.
Rice Street was reopened by 12:10 p.m.
• A three-car crash that occurred shortly after noon on Tuesday closed the northbound lane of Kuhio Highway for roughly half an hour in Anahola.
Officers responded to the scene just south of mile marker 13, where a northbound Chevy pickup truck reportedly rear-ended a Ford convertible, which caused the convertible to rear-end a Toyota sedan.
The driver of the convertible was a 33-year-old Arizona woman who was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevy pickup was a 33-year-old Kapaa man, and the driver of the Toyota sedan was a 49-year-old Washington state woman. Neither reported injuries.
The northbound lane remained closed from approximately 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
