LIHUE — A crew of around 40 Kauai Gymnastics Academy and parkour athletes performed at the Kukui Grove Center for its 10th annual show Sunday.
The event demonstrated the nimble, graceful moves of the academy’s students, with somersaults, high flips, and jumps off the wall.
Ashlynn Questin, age 7, was the youngest performer and the most senior was Level 9 gymnast Allison Culliney, who is 17 years old.
“Time goes by quickly,” said Jack Leonard, Kauai Gymnastics Academy program director and head coach of the KGA Kula team. “Allison is the only senior we have, attending KGA for all of 10 years and being on the team program for the last six years.”
She attends Island School where she’s also a participant in the Kauai Interscholastic Federation Track and Field program.
Kaisa Ishikawa, a junior at Kauai High School where she also participates in wrestling and cheerleading, is the only gymnast to have performed in all 10 exhibitions at Kukui Grove, Leonard said.
