LIHUE — A recent celebration at St. Michael and All Angels Church raised close to $20,000.
The weekend event honoring Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, founders of the Episcopal Church in Hawaii, featured a craft fair, music, auctions, and food and drink. Several hundred people attended and bid on more than 300 items in the silent auction and 16 items in the online auction.
It raised $17,500, all of which will go for its weekly “Loaves and Fishes” program and other church ministries. During Thanksgiving, it distributed more than 100 turkeys.
The church credits a great group of volunteers and donors for the success of its primary annual fundraiser.
