TGI, please get your facts right
How can The Garden Island’s reporter Darin Moriki get his facts about the Coco Palms Redevelopment so wrong? I wonder what island he lives on? Certainly not Kauai, since he writes that the hotel along Kaumualii Highway has stood vacant for many years. There are no hotels along Kaumualii Highway and Coco Palms is alongside Kuhio Highway from Hale Ilio to Kuamoo Road.
One must marvel at the idea of constructing an overpass from Kaumualii Highway to connect with Wailua Beach.
Yet, that’s what Moriki writes about. Perhaps that’s not such a bad idea after all, because if the overpass is wide enough for cars to travel on it, it just might alleviate some of the island’s traffic congestion. Just think, you could enter the overpass by KCC and whiz right past the Kuhio Mall, sail over Lihue town past the Wailua Golf Course and KCCC and exit at Wailua Bay, the Seashell Restaurant and Coco Palms Resort. Golly, what a plan!
Perhaps Darin Moriki can come up with some other areas in which to have overpasses constructed, like extending the one from Coco Palms all the way to Kealia Beach and beyond. There must be many areas that could benefit from these overpasses.
Those of you who live in Kekaha and Waimea along with the residents in Poipu can come up with your own ideas for these roads. I live on the east side and that’s where my interest lies. Oh heck, why should Oahu have all the fun of these things, but they call them freeways.
May I suggest that someone proof read the articles written by Mr. Moriki before they go to print even though it did give this reader some fodder for humorous comment.

Pflueger sentencing an injustice
Happy Thanksgiving to Jimmy Pflueger. He got served a turkey; the turkey is us, the citizens of Kauai, the seven innocent people he killed. Is there corruption in our legal system? You better believe it. This is a slap in the face to everyone who is told to trust in our system of justice.
I hope the national media picks up on this injustice and exposes those who took whatever kind of bribes to allow this to happen. I bet you this was a done deal even before he was sentenced to the piddly seven months.
God bless you Jimmy Pflueger. I hope you have a happy holiday with your family as you laugh in the face of a public that is powerless over the power of money.
But shame on the rest of you who we elected and trusted to look out for our interests. Shame, shame, shame on you. I am disgusted.

Well done on road to Polihale
Kudos and mahalo to all the volunteers who fixed the road and built the bridge to Polihale, proving once again that the people can manage themselves just fine if government would just get out of the way.
