POIPU — Special performances by students at the Koloa Elementary School today will launch a holiday shopping bag program at The Shops at Kukuiula.
Students will be on hand at 4:45 p.m. to distribute the special student-created bags to more than 20 merchants who have signed on to sell them.
“This is so exciting,” said Helaine Perel, real estate manager of The Shops at Kukuiula. “This is the fourth year we have partnered with Koloa School in offering holiday bags decorated by the students. We’re proud to continue this program and support the education in our community.”
The bags can be purchased for $1 with all of the proceeds going to Koloa School. Additionally, The Shops at Kukuiula will match the purchases with a $1,000 contribution to the school.
Funds raised during last year’s holiday bag promotion were used for classroom supplies and the Koloa School’s new reading and math curriculum.
At 5 p.m. the school’s kindergarten students will perform holiday songs.
