LIHUE — Caitlyn Cantornia had a hat trick, or three goals scored, and added an assist to lead the Kauai High School girls to a 11-1 win over the Hilo Vikings Saturday at Vidinha Stadium.
Cantorna opened the scorebooks 10 minutes into play with a goal when the Hilo goalkeeper, playing the position for the first time, mis-played the wet ball.
Two minutes later, the Red Raiders struck again, Lindsey Kashima netting the first of two goals scored on an assist from Aleigha “Red” Scovel.
Cantorna helped Janae Souza break into the scorebooks at the 23rd minute, and followed that feat with her own score at the 26th minute.
Souza picked up her own score, unassisted at the 27th minute, before Kashima broke a 10-minute scoreless lull at the 37th minute for the 6-0 lead.
Hilo answered when Kaitlyn Galima found the net on a penalty kick to end the opening half.
