“The kids have been getting better and better,” said Tiffany Dodge of Aloha Dance Studios. “What they do with latex is pure creativity.”
Zombies, ghouls and monsters have been on the prowl each weekend, and will come to a finale on Friday during the Kukui Grove Halloween Festival which opens registration at 4:30 p.m.
“We always look forward to this event at Kukui Grove,” said Stacie Chiba-Miguel, assistant real estate manager at Kukui Grove. “The Halloween Festival continues to grow each year. This is a good time to see the keiki dress up and enjoy all of the friendly competitions.”
The Howl & Scream and the Keiki Costume contest returns to Center Stage with KQNG Radio Group. Ron Wiley will guide the field, which will have limited space. This means registration is on a first come, first served basis starting at 4:30 p.m.
Registration for the in-store trick-or-treating will also take place at that time, with free goody bags being distributed while supplies last.
Following the final screams of the keiki contest, the in-store trick-or-treating will start at 6:15 p.m.
The winners of the Kukui Grove Halloween Window Decorating contest also will be announced at that time.
Kukui Grove Center has featured a month-long program of Halloween and fall-themed events such as the Aloha Dance Studio Freaky Friday Haunted House, keiki and family activities and dance performances.
Throughout that month, merchants have been competing to see who has the best Halloween-themed display, with shoppers voting on their favorite. The shoppers, by voting on Facebook or at the participating merchants, become eligible to win a $50 Kukui Grove Center gift card.
