Elizabeth Hahn of Kauai Bettas earned 10 awards during the judging Saturday at the Lone Star Bettas show in Texas.
The vendor at the Kauai Community Market was nearly speechless on learning that of the 10 fish she submitted to the Texas show, which featured a field of 133 fish, she earned 10 awards — a perfect showing.
“Yay!” Hahn said. “Ten out of 10 babies placed.”
Topping the awards, Hahn earned Best in Variety for two fish — the Longfin Halfmoon Female and the Doubletail Female.
Hahn’s submissions in these two categories earned first and second place honors en route to its Best in Variety award, both fish falling in the Halfmoon category, one being a Singletail Bicolor Female and the other being a Doubletail Female.
A Marble/Grizzle Halfmoon Single Tail Female also garnered a gold medal along with a Division B: Halfmoon Doubletail Females.
Other awards pulled in include second and third place awards for Red or Black Halfmoon Single Tail Male, Red or Black Halfmoon Single Tail Female, a Halfmoon Butterfly Single Tail Male.
Hahn has her fish on display Saturdays during the Kauai Community Market.
