HANAMAULU – A 15-year-old male was detained Wednesday morning by police who responded to a report of a home burglary in Hanamaulu.
The 75-year-old female owner of the home called police at around 10 a.m. when she located the boy rummaging through items in one of the bedrooms. According to a preliminary report from Kauai Police Department, the boy had entered the residence through a window.
The elderly woman recognized the suspect as he lives with his family in her rental studio adjacent to the home.
Upon the officer’s arrival, the juvenile was detained and placed in a juvenile holding cell until custody could be transferred over to the state Sheriff Division.
