Kudos to all the KIF officials and volunteers on a great championship race which was enhanced with passing showers ahead of passing Hurricane Ana.
Gutsy Oyama said Coach Basilio “Bunga” Fuertes would have been there, but was on the Mainland for a reunion, and kudos to Waimea coach Dalton Matsuyama (the rain must’ve kept the student substitute home) on plugging through the season.
Coach Kirk Correa was like Kauai trainer Keith Burgess, Coach Richard Matsumoto and Manny Henriques who took in the cross country meet before heading to the Kauai High School football game at Vidinha Stadium where Chef Raphael Camarillo (they sold out early!) was telling Merrill Carvalho (great job, announcing the game!) not to say his son’s name so much.
