“Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month!” is the theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Week that starts Sunday.
Luis, coordinating the October being National Safety Month event which includes the fire department, made sure there was adequate supply of not only smoke alarms at the retailer, but other fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers.
The fire department will be at the Kmart National Safety Month event along with the Ocean Safety Bureau and the Kauai Lifeguard Association from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kmart parking lot.
Luis said in addition to the fire department, the Kauai Police Department, Kauai Fire Safety, the Civil Air Patrol, the American Red Cross, American Medical Response, and Dr. Randy Blake and Tommy Noyes will be on hand to offer tips and information on safety.
The Garden Island newspaper will also feature a Fire Prevention Week special in its Sunday edition.
