PUHI — Members of the Aloha Dance Studio and Girl Scout Troop 823 helped launch a weeklong observance of National Grandparents and National Assisted Living week at the Regency at Puakea on Monday.
Kyla Koerte, of Girl Scout Troop 823 coordinating the performance of Aloha Dance Studio, said they were proud to pay tribute to the kupuna.
“Grandparents are our role models,” Koerte said, introducing the other scouts, including Kaytlen Akau, Jacie Ogata, Jayda Wakilina, Alexis Cacabelos and Aleah Yano. “Grandparents are also our biggest fans and some of our oldest friends.”
Sharon Lasker, director of marketing at the Regency at Puakea, said events are planned each day, culminating with the special showing of “The Sound of Music,” Saturday starting at 1:15 p.m.
The public is invited to join throughout the week, including the residents and staff talent show at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Musical Movement with Dwayne at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Thursday, the Regency unveils its third annual Kupuna Arts Showcase from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, residents will be treated to a fashion show at 2 p.m. and a professional hula performance from 4 to 7 p.m.
