KONA — Several Kauai paddling crews participated in the Queen Liliuokalani Long Distance Canoe Race this past weekend on the Big Island.
The courses span 18 miles from Kailua Bay to Honaunau.
Kauai Waa, comprised of paddlers from the Puuwai, Hanalei and Namolokama clubs along with one guest paddler, finished fifth overall among the men and finished third in the Iron NK Open Male division with a time of 2:00:14.
The Namolokama Canoe Club earned two first-place finishes in both the Iron NK 55-59 Male division and the Iron NK 60-64 Male division with times of 2:18:32 and 2:19:26.
The Hanalei 3 crew finished 13th overall among the women and second in the Iron Koa OP HR Female division with a time of 2:19:32.
