Damien Lazaro
Damien Kaleo Lazaro of Kekaha died on August 10, 2014 at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital at the age of 40. Born on April 3, 1974 in Waimea, Kauai, he was a Supervisor at Pioneer Hi-Bred International.
Preceded in death by his parents, Damiano “Gundy” & Althea Lazaro.
He is survived by his son Dylan Pulama Lazaro of Kalaheo, daughter Destiny K. Lazaro, partner Amelia Kyewich, brothers, Chico (Elsie) Lazaro, Leroy (Annie) Lazaro, Michael (Wanda) Lazaro, and Kimo Lazaro, all of Kekaha, sister Lani (Kainoa) Keuma of Hanapepe, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai from 10:00am to 12:30pm. Service at 12:30 pm, with burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Francisca Santos
Francisca Pascual Santos of Koloa, passed away peacefully at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on August 5, 2014 at the age of 102. She was born on March 7, 1912 in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She lived a long, active, happy, and grace-filled life. She treasured her family and received special joy from her grandchildren. She was a homemaker, owned and operated a Care Home, and worked at the Koloa U.S. Post Office. She was a member of various organizations including the Filipino Catholic Club, University of Hawaii Extension Club and Koloa Senior Center and also volunteered to help in the Koloa School reading program.
Preceded in death by her husband Ruperto A. Santos, infant son Ruperto Santos, Jr., 2 grandsons Roberto Santos, Jr., Richard Santos, Jr., parents Posedio and Patricia Labuguen Pascual, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her 5 children: Constancia “Betty” (Carl) Schnoebelen, Des Moines, Iowa, Lucila “Lucy” (Alvin) Kaholokula, Kalaheo, Kauai, Ester “Linda” (Primo) Queja, Westminster, California, Roberto “Bobby” (Eliza) Santos, Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Richard “Dickie” (Edna) Santos, Koloa, Kauai, Survived by 17 grandchildren: Julie (Michael) Haggerty, Steven (Traci) Schnobelen, Jennifer (Willy) Farrell, Peter (Jaimi) Schnoebelen, Mark Kaholokula, Michael (Shirley) Kaholokula, Kimberly (Michael) Waters, Kevin, Shawn and Nalani Queja, Myles (Karla) Santos, Myron Santos, Marissa (Chad) Davenport, Brandy (Jason) Peralta, Cal, Joda & Jonah Santos. 31 Great grandchildren, Ryan (Megan) Haggerty, Daniel & Jessica Haggerty, Kristen (Anthony) Molet, Andrew Schnoebelen, Claudia Farrell, Zachary, Megan, & Jacob Schnoebelen, Michael, Samuel, & Kathryn Kaholokula, Danica & Kanani Kaholokula, Kiana, Kyler & Karsen Waters, Brittany & Tyler Queja, Miranda Huff Queja, Tyler Santos, Samantha Slinkard, Dominic & Malyna Santos, Victoria & Braden Davenport, Mikaela & Matea Peralta, Kawelo & Austin Santos, Caidyn Robinson, 7 Great Great grandchildren: Drake & Reagan Haggerty, Nathan Molet, Christian, Jace, & Ayden Kaholokula, Jordyn Esparza, and numerous relatives.
A celebration of her life will be held on August 18, 2014 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Koloa with visitation at 9:00 a.m., funeral service at 10:00 a.m. and burial at Kauai Memorial Garden cemetery in Lihue.

Lorena Lisa Nanod
Lorena Lisa Nanod of Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii passed away at her home in Maui on July 31, 2014 at the age of 58. Born on February 18, 1956 in Lihue, Kauai. She was a retail sales representative for the Grand Wailea.
Preceded in death by her father, Menelio Lastimoza, brother, Chad Lastimosa.
She is survived by her husband, Lance Nanod, son, Jarrett Nanod, mother, Teodocia Lopez Lastimoza, brothers, Lorenzo “Larry”, Benjamin “Benny”, Timothy “Timmy”, Melchior “Mel” Lastimosa, sisters, Melissa Hedges, Linnea and Meda Lastimosa.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 23, 2014 at Nakamura Mortuary. Visitation at 9:30 AM, Service at 10:00 AM, Inurnment to follow at 2:00 PM at Maui Memorial Park.

Sister Florence Remata
Sister Florence Remata passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Queen’s Hospital on Oahu.
Born Florence Veneranda Remata on November 24, 1938 in Waimea, Kauai. Sister Florence joined the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Community in 1957 in Syracuse, New York.
She was recently assigned Regional Minister for Hawaii, California, Texas and New Mexico.
Preceded in death by her parents Crisanto and Vicenta Omakanim Remata.
She is survived by 8 brothers, David (Mercy) Remata, Edward (Berna) Remata, Alfredo (Flora) Remata all from Kauai, Richard Remata, Stanley (Norma) Remata from Oahu, Lawrence Remata (Donna-deceased), Wilfred Remata, and Patrick Remata from California and 3 sisters, Mildred (Bernardo) Olores, Elizabeth (Elpidio) Aquino and Vivian (Alvis) Nonaka all from Kauai. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the St. Theresa Church in Kekaha. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:00 am. Mass will be at 10:00 am, and again on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihue at 10:00am.
Cheryl Lovell-Obatake
Cheryl Mary Ululani Lovell-Obatake of Nawiliwili, Kauai passed away on August 1, 2014 at the age of 60. Born on March 5, 1954 in Waimea, Kauai. She was a cultural monitor with a love for land, water and culture.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Ida Lovell, and brother Leslie Lovell.
She is survived by her husband James Obatake Jr., daughter, Maureen “Kanani” (Albert) Lovell-Obatake, son, Leslie (Brandee) Lovell-Obatake, stepmother, Beverly Manner, sister Puanani Holt, and stepsister Karen Manner. Grandchildren, Keana, Lanakila, Nakoa, Kamalewa, and Maka`ala. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Nawiliwili Beach Park, 4 p.m. The family request casual attire.
Consuelo Bueno Dela Cruz
Consuelo Bueno Dela Cruz of Kaumakani, Kauai passed away on August 6, 2014 at the age of 87. Born on April 29, 1927 in Paoay Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was a social worker for Elderly Affairs and a seamstress.
Preceded in death by her parents, Claudio & Susana Bueno, sister, Cleta Puyaoan, brother, Gregorio Bueno.
She is survived by her husband, Bendedicto “Benny” Dela Cruz, Kaumakani, daughter, Helen (Charito) Matute, California, brother, Narciso ( Purificacion) Bueno, Eleele, Isidro (Helenda) Bueno, Eleele, sister, Adelaida (Alipio) Cristobal , Oahu, grandchildren, Charlene Matute-De Haro & Jennifer Matute, great grandchildren Analy and Isa De Haro. Numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Barbara Sullivan passed away at the age of 63. Born on April 18, 1951.
She is survived by her daughters, Ashley Cameron and Rebecca Cameron.
