Stephen Fujii (he’ll be helping with the East Kauai Lions at the Mokihana Aquatics Fun Meet) couldn’t find red raddishes at the Monday Market, so he should have gone to the Post 54 Farmers Market, which debuted Tuesday at the Kauai Veterans Center on Kapule Highway.
Suthat Promnonsri not only had red raddishes, he had purple carrots (did you know carrots were purple 5,000 years ago in Afghanistan?). Carrie Myers of Isenberg Tract is doing well with her aquaponics set up, having success at the farmers markets and several eateries, and Nancy Caban went to find Rhan Honjiyo to sign up for the next one after visiting following a Facebook posting from Joanne Hardesty.
Rhan is still looking for vendors, not only for the farmers market, but the marketplace that operates Tuesdays through Fridays.
Justin Hier had his Porky’s Cart with the ono kalua pork on hot dog from the Kauai Raceway Park. Justin said he comes from 11 a.m. until about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the veteran center parking lot.
