Jessie Castro said the surfers in the NSSA meet at PK’s were getting Olympic treatment since he, Gary Peters of Maryland, and Brian Setty of Kapaa were geared up to photograph the surfers.
Across the street, the mini golfers had to settle for the regular stuff as Jazmen Callejo (she was pounding poi on the Lawai Beach float Saturday) enjoyed trying to clear the water hazard along with Tyra and Cassie Valencia, two of a triplet, the third sister spending time inside.
Barbara Gusman of the Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach was at the Kauai Filipino Chamber of Commerce meeting (Randy Francisco was there, too) with Liana Soong (husband Michael and Norm Aweau of the Hawaii Little League used to coach Pop Warner, and Kainalu is named after the district they used to coach for), gearing up for the Heiva i Kauai weekend.
