This year’s honorees to be celebrated at the 2014 “Living Treasures” luncheon come from a broad range of disciplines.
The recipients include: Mary Thronas for excellence in government service; Frank and Abbey Santos for excellence in business leadership and community service; Marina Pascua for excellence in community service; Beverly Apana Muraoka for perpetuation of Hawaiian music and dance; Norman and Mabel Hashisaka for excellence in business with aloha; Jay Furfaro for preserving aloha in the visitor industry and government; Dennis Fujimoto for excellence in photo journalism; Lindsay “Tony” A. Faye Jr. for preserving Kauai’s sugar heritage and friend of the museum award recipient Ed Kenney for excellence as a performing artist. The trustees of the Kauai Museum have acknowledged special people since 1988 for their contributions to culture, education and the welfare of Kauai and Niihau people and communities.
Volunteering, teaching and preservation efforts by the “Living Treasures” will be celebrated from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 9 at the Kauai Beach Resort. Tickets can be purchased at the Kauai Museum for $50.
