Jeff Peterson and Michael “Ship” Shipley went better than their goal of a six-foot sand castle, Saturday. They were on the beach at Hanalei working with Michael’s nephew Caleb Kinghorn of Tucson, Arizona.
Jeff said it was in preparation for the Hawaii Sand Festival/Castle/Art Contest, Aug. 2 at Hanalei. The event is free for all ages and needs volunteers. Check with www.hawaiisandcastle.com for more information.
Kudos to Kalani Vierra and the Kauai Ocean Safety Bureau people on a great Kauai Junior Lifeguards Island Finals, Saturday at the Hanalei Pier.
The place was crowded, but Jim Jung had the right idea, a canopy chair which kind of kept him focused on the action in the sand and water.
Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza had her Japanese students touring the Kee hula platform, but stopped for a break at the Hanalei Bay following the World Conference on Hula.
