Lauren Yama was thrilled there were no junior golf tournaments Saturday so she could visit the Kauai Community Market with Shana Takiguchi (anyone remember Tad & Mary’s?).
Janice Bond (she said she met the TGI redesign master Michael Rovner) was having lunch with Aunty Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza, husband Pete, and Shizu Hashimoto and didn’t say that Saya Saigo and Kyoko Iwamoto (the storm passed by them just before they left) of Kyushu danced hula for Aunty Kapu for about 20 years in Japan.
Katherine Muzik was helping Kenta Watanabe of Okinawa look for a good lunch place. Kenta, who will be studying in Honolulu next year, was in town to talk about the Okinawa coral during the RIMPAC talk in Kapaa.
Cynthia Chiang (she was taiko drumming at the Friday bon dance) had some pretty cool lilikoi lemonade and even offered Kelly Gooding some goat cheese samples.
OK, time to go check out the fourth World Conference of Hula.
