HANAPEPE — Jasmine Semblante is kicking it around in Honolulu.
Semblante, one of the Makani Kauai, a Girls Under 10 soccer team, is participating in the Hawaii International Cup soccer tournament, playing with Honolulu team, the Bulls, from Thursday through Sunday.
Her Makani Kauai teammates will then travel to Oahu next week and reunite with Semblante for the Aloha International Club soccer tournament, said Coach Ron Motosue.
“For many of the girls, this is the first time they’re traveling off-island for a tournament,” Motosue said.
Makani Kauai recently finished the Kauai Soccer Association spring season in third place for the Under 10 division, Coach Ramon Semblante said.
Following the season, the team stayed together, unveiling its bright pink uniforms sponsored by Lifeway Pharmacy for the Oahu tournament.
“This is our hunting uniform,” Semblante said.
Coach Ron said the team stayed together following the KSA season and on returning from the Oahu tournament, it will be participating in a futsal tournament at the Kato Gym in Kalaheo from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 for the youth division.
“Jasmine played in the All Saints futsal tournament, and now, she wants the team to get involved,” Coach Ramon said. “During the All Saints tournament, she was on a team which finished second place in her age division.”
Coach Ron said it’s good the girls want to stay together past the season.
“This is good they have something to do,” Coach Ron said. “We’re lucky we have supportive parents and volunteers. It helps keeps the kids off the street.”
