LIHUE – Police arrested a man they believe is responsible for multiple business break-ins across Lihue and Kapaa over the last month.
Keoki Carvalho, 23, of Lihue, was arrested Monday for several offenses, including burglary in the second degree, theft, and fraudulent use of a credit card, the Kauai Police Department stated in a press release Tuesday.
Police noticed a rash of burglaries over the course of the past few weeks, particularly in downtown Lihue. Last week, the Lihue Plantation Building on Kele Street reported break-ins at roughly half of its 30 tenants. Victims told The Garden Island in previous interviews that the thief appeared to be searching for cash.
Carvalho was taken into custody in Lihue without incident. He is being held in police custody in lieu of $175,000 bail.
