LIHUE – No French fries or cheeseburgers will be offered, instead those with an eye on fulfilling their civic duty can use the county’s drive-through voter registration window Wednesday and Thursday. The Elections Division of the Office of the County Clerk will provide drive-through voter registration services in the parking area in front of the Historic County Building and Annex Building from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The registration service coincides with the 2014 primary election voter registration deadline on Thursday and will enable registered voters to vote in both the primary and general election.
Individuals wishing to use the service should approach the striped area of the driveway fronting the Historic County Building. A current and valid photo identification, such as a Hawaii state ID or driver’s license will be needed to apply. Other acceptable forms of identification include a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paystub or other government document that shows the name and address of the individual who is registering to vote.
Besides showing an acceptable form of identification, all interested individuals will be required to complete a voter registration affidavit.
Registered voters who wish to update their registration information or apply for an absentee mail ballot will also have the option to use the drive-through service.
