KILAUEA – A 19-year-old Kilauea man was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant after a single-vehicle crash Sunday.
The accident closed Kuhio Highway at mile marker 25 near Kalihiwai Bridge. None of the three occupants was injured, according to a Kauai Police Department press release.
At approximately 3:15 a.m., a southbound gray Toyota pickup flipped onto its roof when the driver, Robin Mark Raza, apparently lost control of the vehicle. Raza and his two passengers, aged 20 and 16 and also residents of Kilauea, sustained minor injuries and declined treatment at the scene, the release stated.
Kuhio Highway was closed between Kahiliholo Road and North Kalihiwai Road for approximately two hours while police investigated. Raza was arrested for OVUII.
