LIHUE — Kauai Community Federal Credit Union awarded $1,000 scholarships to five graduating high school seniors at a ceremony on June 4 at the Kukui Grove West office. To be eligible, students needed to be a member of the credit union and were judged on academic merit, community service, credit union relationship and financial need.
This year’s KCFCU Your Choice Scholarship recipients are Alexys Bermudez, Alex Hashimoto and Kiana Pigao from Waimea High School and Aveilana Saldana and Cassie Wilson from Kapaa High School. Bermudez will be attending the University of Portland in Oregon; Hashimoto will attend the University of Denver in Colorado; Pigao will be at George Fox University in Oregon; Saldana will be at Southern Oregon University; and Wilson will be attending the University of Indianapolis in Indiana.
