Dr. James Dire, vice chancellor for academic affairs at Kauai Community College, had a pleasant surprise when his twin brother, U.S. Army Brigadier Gen. Daniel Dire dropped by the KCC campus.
Gen. Dire became the deputy commanding general of the 3rd Medical Command since March 2014 and is here as deployment support for the Tropic Care Kauai, which has KCC (Alice Parker and Steven Fujii were some of the people visiting the site Friday afternoon) as one of its three clinical sites through Thursday.
Mahalo to Capt. Charles An for all the help with the Tropic Care program, and he was correct about “Col. Toni Torres” who wears her badge prominently on her ID lanyard (Dr. Dileep Bal said you need to know when to wear the Army or the Navy lanyards).
Romy Castillo and Dr. Amyn Hirani of the Kauai Vet Center got a surprise visit Saturday when U.S. Marine Corps Brigadier Gen. Roger Machut and Col. Helen Pratt visited them at the VA rig on loan from West Oahu.
