NAPALI – A 35-year-old woman from Boulder, Colo., sustained an injury Saturday evening on the Napali Coast and was airlifted out.
The woman was swimming in the shore break at Honopu Beach at approximately 5:45 p.m. when she reportedly injured her spine.
A tour boat operator notified the U.S. Coast Guard about the incident, and in turn, they contacted police dispatch, Kauai County officials said in a press release Sunday.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, the rescue specialists found the woman being tended to by her husband.
The rescuers treated the woman using cervical-spine precautions, then flew her to Princeville Airport.
Awaiting medics then transported the woman to Wilcox Hospital.
