Kauai cowgirls Cheyenne Andrade and Cheyanne Tannery are heading to Wyoming for the national rodeo.
Andrade earned the title of Hawaii High School Rodeo Queen during a competition at the Parker Ranch on the Big Island which wrapped up June 15.
Kim Medeiros of the Kauai All Girls Rodeo Association said Andrade competed in a horsemanship pattern, speech, modeling, written examinations, impromptu questions and a personal interview to emerge as the rodeo queen, besting two other contestants from the Big Island for the buckle.
Tannery finished the three-day competition second overall in the barrel racing event.
Both girls will be heading to Rock Springs, Wyo., for the next level of competition, July 12-19.
