Thelma K. Blake of Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on June 12, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Born in Waimea, Kauai on November 5, 1922. She was a cook for Koloa Elementary School.
Preceded in death by: Rev. Charles Blake.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Blake, Koloa, Alva Blake, Koloa; grandsons, Kaipo (Tricia) Blake, Kalaheo, Danny “Kawika” (Malia) Blake, Puhi, Kanan (Leena) Blake, California, Keoni Blake, Koloa; great grandchildren, Bree “Kanoe” Blake, Kalaheo, Blythe “Kahoku” Blake, Kalaheo, Kiana Blake, California, Loreale Blake, Calfornia, Makalapua Blake, Puhi, Ka`ilinemo Blake, Koloa, Dallas “Kilakila” Blake, Puhi, Numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday July, 7 2014 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Visitation 10:00 a.m. Service 11:00 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested.

Yukio “York” Higashi
Yukio “York” Higashi of Hanamaulu passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 19, 2014 at the age of 87. Born on February 12, 1927 he was a retired truck driver instructor for Lihue Plantation.
Preceded in death by his parents Sakichi and Kiku; brothers, Masayuki and Harry; granddaughter Halee Rivera.
He is survived by his wife, Olinda Higashi; sons, Gordon (Danice) Higashi, Alvin (Deborah) Higashi, Dean (Melanie) Higashi; Blaine Kaneholani, Kenny Meatoga; daughters, Maile (Jonah) Cummings, Yukie (Kevin) De Silva, Anolani (Kelo Rivera) Higashi; brothers, David Higashi, Richard “Kenji” (Misa) Higashi, Sisters Peggy (Leslie) Yaka and Edith Higashi; 25 grandchildren, Bryson, Shantelle, Daryl, Danielle, Jan, Joey, Cherise, Kaplan, Alyssa, Kelii, Landon, Micah, Vaughn, Kelly, Kaleomana, Jonah, Nohelani, Sunshine, Naomi, Jacob, Alton, Joshua, Moana, Dustyn, Hulali. 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Anahola Hawaiian Homes Beach Park. Visitation with family begins at 10 a.m. Services at 10:30 a.m. will be performed by Kahu Ipo Kahaunaele-Ferreira of Ke Akua Mana Church.
Richard Tom
Richard M. D. Tom of Kapaa, Kauai died on May 29, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born on March 28, 1921 and was a retired Officer and Industrial Relations director at Grove Farm Company. He was also a retired Director, Officer, and Manager of the company-sponsored federal credit union.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian, daughter Stephanie Wong of Honolulu, sons Jonathan (Avis) Tom of Kapaa and Dr. Richard Dana (Laurie) Tom of Aiea, Oahu; Brothers Webster (Juliette) Tom of Honolulu and Thomas (Marietta) Tom of Palo Alto, CA. Surviving grandchildren are Richard Kiakona, Lyndsey, Kyler, Hali and Naleah Tom of Kapaa and Zachary and Courtney Tom of Aiea.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at All Saints Church in Kapaa. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. and services to commence at 10:00 a.m. with inurnment to follow in the church columbarium.
Eleanor Cox
Eleanor Medeiros Cox passed away on June 13, 2014 at her home in Omao, Kauai at the age of 97. Born on February 7, 1917 at her Omao home. She was a caregiver for all, and a homemaker.
Preceded in death by her parents; Mary and John (Jr) Medeiros; Brothers Lawrence, Alfred, Daniel, Phillip, Edward, John, Abel and Sisters Clara Wiggins, Emily Garlenger.
She is survived by her daughters; Cookie (Bart) Thomas of Omao, Clara (Mel) Leasau; and Puanani (John) Holt. Sister Evelyn Cabral. Grandchildren; Michael Sylva, Meleke Leasau, Eric Thomas, Caitlin Thomas, Cheryl Powell, Frank Powell, and Janelle Morris and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
A celebration of Life will be held on June 23, 2014 at St Raphael Catholic Church, Koloa with visitation at 9:00 am. Mass to be celebrated at 11:00am Burial to follow at the Koloa Cemetery.

Mary Kealoha Silva
Mary Kealoha Silva of Hanamaulu passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital June 16, 2014, at the age of 49. She was born in Lihue on January 14, 1965, and was self-employed as a custodian.
Preceded in death by her grandson, Kahoku Silva.
She is survived by three children, Tiana (Gino) Pegeder, Robby (Nikki) Silva Jr., Shyann (Jonah) Silva; her companion, Anthony “Bully” Parraga ; parents, Antone and Celeste Farias Sr.; brother, Antone (Rachael) Farias Jr.; sisters, Nalei (Norman) Gomes, Tanya (Gavino) Farias, Maile (Linda) Farias-Kaahanui; 10 grandsons, Ganen, Racen, Knox, Rush, Pookela, Kamanu, Kaiea, Kavea, Shiloh, and Kaleb; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Kalapaki Beach Park from 12:00 noon.

Alvin Cornwell
Alvin Edmund Cornwell of Kapaa passed away on May 25, 2014 at home at the age of 60. Born on December 4, 1953 in Honolulu, he was a professional bartender.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James L. “Kaipo” & Mabel Agnes Cornwell, and brother, Clayton Cornwell.
He is survived by his daughter Alayne Cornwell and son Royce Cornwell of Kapaa; sister Juanita “Sweetheart” Enos of Honolulu and brother James L. “Kimo” (Debbie) Cornwell of California; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 9 am on the beach at the Ewa side of Ala Moana Beach Park (Ewa of the Tennis Courts). His ashes will be scattered by family, friends and members of the Ala Moana Beach Surfing Association.
