The Kauai Veterans Council invites veterans and their families to the annual July 4th Independence Day Celebration scheduled for Friday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kauai Veterans Center.
The highlight of this year’s celebration will be the recognition of Kauai’s Korean War Veterans and the presentation of individual Certificates of Appreciation from the Secretary of Defense by Distinguished Guest, Maj. General Darryll D.M. Wong, Adjutant General, Hawaii National Guard.
Veterans and widows of veterans who served on active duty during the Korean War, between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1954, who would like to be recognized must have been awarded at least one of the Korean Service medals which they are asked to wear to the ceremony:
Eligible individuals are asked to check in with the Kauai Office of Veterans’ Services representative no later than 9:45 a.m. on the day of the event. The recognition ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
