LIHUE — Hunter Yoshioka scored a game-high 13 points to lead Team Central, Division 3, or students in grades 6 and 7, to a 48-22 win over Team Lihue Wednesday night at the Kauai High School gym.
Playing in the Kaulupono Basketball Summer league games, Team Central built a 21-10 halftime lead behind six points from Travis Duran and five from Yoshioka.
Duran, who finished with 10 points, was aided by Kaimani Tecson who had eight points, six coming in the second half. Aiden Offley and Benjamin Rittmeister each netted six and Gavin Toyofuku ended with five points.
Kai Villanueva and David Pascua topped the Team Lihue effort on 11 and nine points, respectively, Zane Kanahele and Aizon Yamashita each adding a digit.
Kala Rall was active on both sides of the ball, finishing with 10 points to lead Hanakila, Division 4, or students in grades 4 and 5, to a 32-14 win over Team Lihue, which got four points from Rigo Flores during the second of three games played in Lihue.
Kawai Apana helped the Hanakila win with six points followed by Nahoa Davis and Akela Nuuhiwa-Gonda each adding five points.
Braelyn Cayaban set the pace for the nightcap, firing off six points to lead the Kaulupono, Division 4 girls to a 19-3 win over the Team Central girls, who got a pair from Zoe Santa Maria and a digit from Bailey Perreira.
Helping Cayaban, Hazel Serapio finished with four points and Kaye Serapio added three points on the Kaulupono scoring leaderboard.
