Every participant will win a prize at the Fourth annual free keiki surf contest, June 21 at Kalapaki Beach hosted by Deja Vu Surf Hawaii.
Registration is limited to the first 80 keiki in four surfing divisions — Menehune (ages 11 and under), Boys ages 12-13, Boys ages 14 to 15, Girls ages 12 to 15, and two bodyboarding divisions: ages 12 and under, and ages 13 to 15.
“We encourage all interested youth to join us,” said Tad Miura, president of Deja Vu Surf Hawaii. “We are so happy to be able to sponsor this event which is free to all competitors and promotes a fun, healthy activity for young people.”
Entry forms are available at the Deja Vue Surf Hawaii stores in Kapaa and at the Kukui Grove Center, and also at Quiksilver in The Shops at Kukuiula in Poipu.
Individuals ranked in the top six in the final ranking for the 2013-2014 Hawaii Surfing Federation-Kauai, and National Scholastic Surfing Association season, are ineligible.
Entry deadline is June 18. Participants are encouraged to register early.
In addition to the prizes, participants will be served a lunch by Duke’s Canoe Club.
Deja Vue Surf Hawaii, an award-winning company owned and operated by the fourth generation of the Mankichi Miura family, is active in the community and is dedicated to supporting Kauai’s youth and educational opportunities.
