KAPAA — The Unutoa brothers, Morris and Elijah, led the scoring for their respective Kauai Ballers basketball teams Tuesday night during the Kaulupono Summer Basketball league games at the Bernice Hundley Gym in Kapaa.
The Kauai Ballers, Division 2, or players in the eighth and ninth grades, were a 52-46 winner over Hanakila, a team made up of primarily players in the Hanalei and Kilauea districts.
Team Central-Black, playing in the Division 3, for players in sixth and seventh grades, overcame the Kauai Ballers 30-15 behind 14 points from Benjamin Rittmeister in the second game.
Elijah Unatoa led the Kauai Ballers’ Division 3 squad with 10 points.
Morris Unatoa led the Kauai Ballers’ Division 2 team with 16 points. Saxsen Shiira also bucketed 16 points.
Daniel Yabes topped the Hanakila scoring with 16 points, including four three-pointers. Lexton Camat launched a pair of threes on way to 12 points and Bernie Calvan had a pair of threes on way to eight points.
Kurtis Fujito-Pascua also went to the three-ball, netting two of them.
Team Central-White won 22-9 over Team Lihue in the Division 3 nightcap.
