The public is welcome to attend “America’s Most West Freedom Fest” at the Pacific Missile Range Facility Barking Sands, Thursday, July 3 from 4 p.m. to midnight. The event will be held on the beach near Shenanigans restaurant.
Hawaii bands The Bootleggers, Ho’aikane, Ekolu and Greenstone Project will provide music and entertainment. The event also includes a 17-minute fireworks display starting about 9:45 p.m., as well as games, rides, food and craft booths.
The traditional PMRF fireworks show was canceled last year when July Fourth events were scaled back across all Navy installations worldwide “as a result of fiscal constraints and sequestration.”
The financial picture improved this year.
Admission is free for this family-oriented event. Guests should enter the base through the south gate entrance just before mile marker 29 off Kaumualii Highway. Direction signs will be posted and security will direct traffic. Free parking will be available on base and visitors are reminded that all vehicles will be subject to search. No outside food or beverages, coolers, tents, pets, weapons (including knives of all types), drugs or personal fireworks are allowed.
Attending adult visitors are asked to have a valid identification card with photo with them. Children under the age of 18 are not required to have identification.
