LIHUE — Kiana Pigao earned four special awards en route to being crowned the 2014 Miss Kauai Filipina Saturday night at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
Hosted by the Kauai Filipino Community Council before an audience of more than 500 people, Pigao, a recent graduate of Waimea High School, earned the congeniality award, voted upon by the participants in the 2014 Miss Kauai Filipina scholarship pageant.
Pigao, who was the recent recipient of a Grove Farm Scholarship valued up to $20,000, also earned top honors during the interview stage and was named the Best in Terno Speech and Best in Talent winner.
Tamara Akau, a graduate of Kauai High School and recent recipient of the Kamehameha Scholars Bernice Pauahi Bishop Award, was voted the Most Beautiful Terno, or traditional elegant Filipino dress, and the Most Photogenic en route to being crowned the pageant’s first runner up.
Priscilla Lutz, a graduate of Kapaa High School, earned the pageant’s Best in Swimsuit award as well as the spirit award for both ticket sales and ad sales for the program booklet. She finished as the pageant’s second runner up.
Pigao will be competing in the 2014 Miss Hawaii Filipina scholarship pageant later in the summer.
