Drive for UR Community has come to Kauai.
The program is designed to raise funds for local community groups and nonprofits and is similar in concept to Ford Motor Company’s successful Drive 4 UR School initiative, which has raised more than $20 million for local schools since starting in 2007.
Saturday, the Kuhio Ford and Mazda invites the Kauai community to support the Boy Scouts of America, Aloha Council, Kauai with a 15-minute, no-obligation test drive of a Ford vehicle at Kuhio Ford and Mazda between the hours of 8 a.m. through 6 p.m.
The Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the Boy Scouts program on Kauai for each test drive.
Aiming for a goal of $6,000, the Kuhio Ford and the Kauai District of the Boy Scouts Aloha Council have teamed up to offer a day of fun, food, and fundraising. Organizers are expecting 300 people to test drive Ford vehicles Saturday.
Paul Curtis, Kauai District executive, said the funds will be used for maintenance of Camp Alan Faye in the Kokee State Park, for training of youth and volunteer adult leaders, and to continue bringing quality programs like overnight campouts to the youth of Kauai.
“We know funding for community programs is hard to come by, and we want to do our part to help make sure these programs remain available,” said Aaris Berry, Kuhio Ford general sales manager. “We’re excited to raise money for the Boy Scouts.”
Staff from the Kuhio Ford will be on site to assist with Ford vehicles and provide additional information about each vehicle available for test driving.
Participants must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license. There is a limit of one test drive per household. Free food, drinks and snacks will be available throughout the day.
