The public is invited to the Melemai Kapuuwaimai choir performance celebrating Memorial Day.
The Oahu choir, made up primarily of students from the Leeward Community College, will be appearing at the Memorial Day services at the Kauai Veterans Cemetary in Hanapepe starting at 10 a.m. Monday, hosted by the Kauai Veterans Council.
The Kauai Veterans Council is hosting the choir who will also make 10 other appearances around the island starting Thursday and culminating with the Memorial Day service.
The choir, under the direction of Marilyn Liu Kim, performs a variety of numbers including classical, spirit-filled, contemporary, and Hawaiian songs with the purpose of creating goodwill, healing, inspiration and encouragement for hope with special focus on the nation’s veterans.
Thursday’s stops are at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School at 9:30 a.m., the Garden Isle Health Care, Long Term at the G.N. Wilcox Memorial Hospital at 11 a.m. and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital at 3 p.m. Friday’s itinerary include performances at the Moikeha Building starting at 10 a.m., Kauai High School starting at 11 a.m. and the Regency at Puakea from 1:30 p.m. Saturday will be the Kauai Museum at 11 a.m. and the Hale Kupuna Nursing Home in Omao at 1:30 p.m. Sunday will be at the Lihue Lutheran Church starting at 9 a.m. and the Aloha Church in Lihue at 10:30 a.m.
