The Giants, seeded No. 3 in the tournament, upset the No. 2 seed Lihue Dodgers, 8-5 Tuesday following a two-day battle which started Monday but had to be called due to darkness.
The Diamondbacks, who took the victory behind eight hits and holding Kalawai to just two hits Wednesday, will face the winner of the Thursday matchup between Kalawai and the Dodgers in the title showdown.
Robin Dumlao topped the Diamondbacks’ hitting, going three-for-three and scoring twice.
Ethan Inanod finished with three RBI, one coming in the third inning on a bunt single, pushing Easton Luis, singling, home, and two coming on a single in the fifth when Dumlao and Luis, both singling, crossed the plate.
Kalawai hits came from Xyran Pai and Kai Goo, both batters getting an RBI in the second inning when Pai drove Shiloh Louis-Kaneakua and Goo getting Kahanu Davis across the plate.
The Giants’ final run came in the fifth inning when Kenton Johnson walked and circled the diamond on Diamondback errors.
Ricky Rego was strong on the mound for the Diamondbacks, getting the nod to close in the fifth inning. In three complete frames, Rego allowed no hits, walked one, Kenton Johnson who went on to score on Diamondback errors, and struck out seven Kalawai batters.
