Ronald “Pake” Chun
Ronald “Pake” Chun of Kekaha, passed away on April 5, 2014 at Kaiser Moanalua Hospital at the age of 66. Born on March 22, 1948, in Honolulu, Ron was an Electronic Technician for Exelis Systems Division at Pacific Missile Range for 44 years.
Preceded in death by his parents Edward and Gladys Chun.
Ron is survived by his wife Arlene Chun, (3) daughters Ronda Chun, Crystal (Michael) Shimatsu, and Jamie (Bryan) Fandrich and (1) son Aaron (Jennifer) Chun, (2) sisters Geri (Dennis) Nishihira, Donna (Mike) Noguchi and (2) brothers Randy (Teri) Chun and Gene Chun. (7) Grandchildren: Pulama Nitta, Kona, Tita, Wai Wai, and Leimana Fandrich, Kela Shimatsu, Eddie Chun.
Friends and Family may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Borthwick Maunakea Chapel in OAHU at 9:30am with services to follow at 10:30am.
A visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St. Theresa Church in Kekaha, KAUAI at 9:00 with mass to follow at 10:00am. The family suggests casual attire.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary in Oahu.
Hiroshi Azeka
Hiroshi Azeka passed away on April 2, 2014 at home at the age of 82. Born on July 21, 1931, in Hanalei, he was a Building Inspector with the State of Hawaii.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynn (Robert) Hatke of Seattle, Fran (Karl) Miyake of Kapaa, and Faye (Chris) Neves of Honolulu; granddaughter, Aedan Azeka; brother Clifford Azeka of Honolulu, sister Lorraine Ayame Katsumoto of Honolulu, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on May 17, 2014 at Kapaa Hongwanji at 2:00 pm. Casual attire is suggested.
Interment will be held at a later date at Hanalei Japanese Cemetery.

Geraldine Medeiros
Geraldine Baptiste Medeiros of Lihue passed away at home on April 22, 2014, at the age of 87. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii on January 24, 1927, and retired as Manager of Greeters of Hawaii gift shop at Lihue airport.
Preceded in death by her husband, Antone Medeiros.
She is survived by three sons, Timothy (Dianna) Dwight, Claude (Lucinda) Medeiros, Kurt (Tamra) Medeiros; one daughter, Lorna Okamoto; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 9:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m.

MaryAnn Frias
MaryAnn Frias from Kaneohe, Hawaii passed away on April 22, 2014 at the age of 74. She was born on June 8th, 1939. She was a housewife.
She is survived by her husband, John M Frias III; her brother Richard (Marilyn) Medeiros; Children – Paul Yadao Sr, JoAnn Yadao, Larry (Tina) Yadao Sr., Angel Yadao Jr., Reuben Yadao, Melinda (Melvin) Gonsalves, Timothy Yadao, Sam (Jose) Yadao Sr., Shawn (Evelyn) Yadao Sr., Terri (Michael) Yadao Iida, Kelly Yadao, Dr. John M. (Kekuhi) Frias IV, Richard (Jennifer) Frias, Jeffery (Ronette), Lisa Aksionczyk. 50 Grandchildren, 56 Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 830 a.m.-10:30 a.m. with Mass to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Church 2-2370 Kaumualii Highway, Kalaheo Hawaii 96741. Family request casual attire.

William Mande
William “Bill” Aguinaldo Mande of Hanamaulu passed away at home on May 1, 2014, at the age of 80. He was born in Kapaa on January 14, 1934, and retired as a Machinist with Lihue Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his wife, Florefin Shirley Mande; brothers, Faustino Patricio Sr., Belarmino Mande; sons, Ernest Mande; daughter, Kathlyn Mande; parents, Ambroscio and Margarita Mande.
He is survived by sons, Glenford Kalena Mande, William (Cyndy) Mande Jr.; daughter, Melory Mande; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Crispina Laranio, Gladys Padre; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014, at Aloha Church with viewing from 9:00 a.m. and services celebrated at 10:00. Cremation will follow.

Elmer Gubaton
Elmer “GUBA” F. Gubaton of Kaumakani, Kauai passed away at Queens Medical Center on May 2, 2014 at age 54. He was born on Dec. 2, 1959 in San Fernando, La Union, Philippines. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, a graduate of Waimea High School, Landscaping Crew Manager at Paradise Bloom and Landscaping.
Preceded in death by his father, Dominador Gubaton.He is survived by his wife Lisa Gubaton of Kauai, daughter Latisha Gubaton of California, and step-sons Kylen Chinen of Kauai and Tyler Chinen of Texas; mother Florita Gubaton of Kauai, brothers, Danilo (Yolanda) Gubaton of California and Cesar (Frozerfina) Gubaton of California, and sisters, Virgie Pascua of Kauai, Alicia Rivera of Kauai, and Marie (Greg) Paiste of Kauai. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
Celebration of Guba’s life will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai, with visitation from 9:00 am and services at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Kauai Vetarans Cemetery. Flowers are welcome.

Noboru Yamahiro
Noboru Yamahiro of Waimea passed away on May 6, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 91. Born on October 21, 1922 in California, he was a Factory Mechanic.
He is survived by his wife Julia Yamahiro, son Ken (Jessica) Yamahiro of Waimea, daughter Gayle (Jed) Kaiakapu of Eleele, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday the 17th of May 2014 at 10:00 am at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Services will begin at 11:00 am. Casual attire is suggested.

Consolacion “Conching” Gambon Sy of San Francisco, California passed away on April 30, 2014 at the age of 75. Born on February 26, 1939 in Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a homemaker.
Preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Sy.
She is survived by her daughter, Cecil Sy, San Francisco; Cynthia (Jason) Dameron, Koloa; son, Michael (Maritza) Sy, San Francisco; sisters, Christina (Florentino) Miranda, San Francisco; Lourdes (Wilfredo) Rabena, Koloa; Magdalena Gambon, San Francisco; Virginia (Alex) Quintin, Las Vegas; Numerous Aunties & Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joseph “Joey” Sidney Tavares of Kapaa formerly of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on May 4, 2014 at Queens Medical Center, Oahu at the age of 58. Born on Kauai, September 16, 1955. He work for Kauai Coffee Co.
Preceded in death by his father, Joseph Tavares Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Angelica “Angela” Tavares, Kalaheo; son, David (Monica) Tavares, California; brother’s, Wallace “Wally” (Dinah) Tavares, Kalaheo; Thomas “Tommy” Tavares, Kalaheo; 2 granddaughters, numerous Aunties & Uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.

Nancy Kobayashi
Nancy Sumako Katayama Kobayashi of Hanalei passed away on May 1, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. Born on November 1, 1924 in Hanalei, she was a retired taro farmer and business owner.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Y. Kobayashi and parents, Yosobei Katayama & Kiyoka Takenaka Takaki.
She is survived by her son, Glenn (Rumi) Ichiro Kobayashi of Hanalei and Joseph (Suzanne) N. Kobayashi of Koolau; daughters, Elizabeth “U`i” Ito of Kilauea, Catherine (Michael) S. Chang of Hilo, and Christine (Demetri Rivera) Y. Kobayashi of Hanalei; brothers, Donald Takaki of Waianae, Kenneth Takaki of Honolulu, and William Takaki of Honolulu; sisters, Geraldine Katayama of Honolulu and Kathleen Davis of Grand Junction, CO; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Kilauea from 9:00 am. Service begins at 11:00. Burial will follow at Hanalei Nihonjin Kai Cemetery.
