Mariebeth Watanabe, a Waimea High School softball standout, was announced to the 2014 All-Cascade Collegiate Conference Softball Team.
She is joined by fellow Eastern Oregon sophomore JoElla Smith of Warm Springs, Ore., who earned honorable mention honor in the Cascade Conference, states a release from the Cascade Conference.
During the 2014 season, Watanabe led the Mountaineers in at-bats at 148, runs at 29, hits at 48, doubles at 12, stolen bases at 14 on 16 attempts and had a .387 batting average.
The daughter of Jay Watanabe, currently serving on the coaching staff of the KIF champion Menehune softball team led by coach Teddy Perreira, Mariebeth led the Mountaineers in multiple-hit games and was the sole Eastern Oregon player to record four hits in a single game this season.
She closed the season on a five-game hitting streak.
Fellow Mountaineer Smith closed the season with a .345 average on the year and was third on the squad in home runs with three, RBIs at 23 and hits at 40.
