ALIOMANU – A 24-year-old Texas man suffered serious injuries Sunday in a traffic crash along Kuhio Highway around Aliomanu. The man was heading south on a moped shortly before 1 p.m. near the North Aliomanu Road junction, the county said.
ALIOMANU – A 24-year-old Texas man suffered serious injuries Sunday in a traffic crash along Kuhio Highway around Aliomanu.
The man was heading south on a moped shortly before 1 p.m. near the North Aliomanu Road junction, the county said.
He attempted to make a turn from the southbound shoulder and was struck by a Ford sedan that was heading in the same direction. Medics transported the victim to Wilcox Memorial Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The driver of the Ford sedan, a 49-year-old Kapaa woman, and her female passenger, 44, of Kapaa, did not sustain any injuries. Kuhio Highway was closed in both directions following the crash while KPD’s Traffic Safety Section conducted an on-scene investigation.
The highway was reopened at about 3:45 p.m.
