In response to popular demand, the National Tropical Botanical Garden is extending the dates of its “Voyage of Discovery” art exhibition through Friday, May 30.
Since its March 3 opening, the show has attracted kamaina and visitors statewide, including several who have made travel plans to Kauai specifically so they could see the exhibition.
The exhibit of 30 rarely seen prints is on display in the Juliet Rice Wichman Botanical Research Center at NTBG’s headquarters, 3530 Papalina Road in Kalaheo on most weekdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
It centers around 30 hand-colored botanical prints made from engraved copperplates based on 18th century watercolors. The collection is named Banks Florilegium for famed British botanist Sir Joseph Banks who accompanied Captain James Cook on his first Pacific voyage.
There is no charge for the exhibition but donations are welcome.
