LIHUE — People enter the training programs for a variety of reasons, said Liza Cabal Trinidad, owner and program director for the Kauai Nurse Aide Training Center.
“Some of the nurses who get here from foreign lands just jump right into the profession while others take a more gradual approach,” Trinidad said.
Located at 3877 Kaia Place in the Dynasty Center, the Kauai Nurse Aide Training Center is a nurse aide training program committed to adhering to the highest standards of instruction with limited seating.
“We started a similar program in Waimea where we had 14 students,” Trinidad said. “But that was a stretch. We have eight to 10 students here in Lihue, and I think that’s the best mix to be able to get more personalized instruction.”
The nurse aide training program offers the training and skills which enable candidates to provide care for residents in long term care settings, or in hospitals, or community-based care settings.
Trinidad said the course is approved by the State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services and all nursing supplies are provided with the exception of uniforms.
Following the 110 hours spread over a six to seven week program, the student is prepared to take the state competency examination to become a certified nurse assistant.
Registration is being accepted for the next class scheduled to start May 27.
