LIHUE — Tennis finals for the Hawaii High School Athletic Association start at 8 a.m. Friday at the Kauai Community College courts.
Matches for the spots at the state tennis championships started Thursday with the boys playing at the Kauai Lagoons tennis courts and the girls playing at the KCC tennis courts.
Davis Huffman of Island School earned the top seed for the Boys Singles with Kapaa’s Kalani Murakami getting the No. 2 seed. Kauai High School filled in the No. 3 and 4 seeds with Francis Perez and Ricky Oshita.
On the Girls Singles court, Waimea’s Lani Rae Green earned the top seed followed by Michaela Fitzgerald of Island School filling in the No. 2 seed.
Kapaa’s Kiara Tamayose earned the No. 3 seed with Waimea’s Shalyn Jim getting the No. 4 seed.
On the Boys Doubles courts, Waimea’s Bradley Cano and Marcus Pereira get the top seed followed by Kapaa’s Kai Harrison and Matt Steinohrt getting the No. 2 seed.
Kauai’s Clinton Sibolboro and Byeong Lee get the No. 3 seed and the Waimea pair of Bradley Lumabao and Chris Corpuz get the No. 4 seed.
On the Girls Doubles court, Island School’s Katy Davidson pairs with Alex Obert for the top seed followed by Kauai’s Tane Orial teaming with Danika Thompson for the No. 2 seed.
Kapaa’s Amber Diaz teams with Frences May Nono for the No. 3 seed and Kapaa’s Casey Nakamura pairs with Alana Bauman for the No. 4 seed.
The Carlsmith Ball HHSAA state championships will be hosted by the Maui Interscholastic League at the Wailea Tennis Club and the Makena Tennis Club, May 1 through 3.
