Janet Dietz
Janet Elisa Dietz of Hanalei passed away at home on March 26, 2014, at the age of 75. She was born in Curacaos, Venezuela on July 11, 1938, and retired as a Hostess with Coco Palms Hotel and Charos.
Preceded in death by her daughter, Leoneene Hendricksen and grandson, Leif Hendricksen.
She is survived by her son, Mario (Dawn) Hendricksen of Kapaa, daughter, Kaiulani (Jesse) Palumbo of Kilauea; seven grandchildren, Kahikapu Hendricksen, Jeanette Hendricksen, Kyle Hepburn, Jesseka Palumbo, Koapaka Palumbo, Stacey Sher Crandall, and Lois Hollum; 9 great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Hanalei Black Pot from 12:00 noon till pau.
Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Jennifer Tumbaga
Jennifer Maria Tumabaga, of Kekaha and Milwaukee, Wisc., passed away in her sleep at the age of 38. Born May 7, 1975 in Milwaukee, Wisc., she attended Kekaha Elementary and Waimea High School and graduated in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Lorraine & Raymond Krauss, Milwaukee, Wisc., and Maria & Daniel Tumbaga, Kekaha.
She is survived by her mom Lois Ann Krauss, Shorewood, Wisc., and Myrna & Job Tumbaga, Kekaha; sisters, Jenna (Raymond) Tumbaga-So and Joanna Tumbaga, Honolulu and Jobyna (Ikaika Efhan) Tumbaga, Kekaha; Makoa Tumbaga-Efhan and Tina Garcia.
A Memorial service was held on January 18, 2014 at Feerick Funeral Home, Shorewood, Wisconsin. Private inurnment.
Feerick Funeral Home assisted the Tumbaga family.
Verna Rita
Verna Noreen Rita aka “The Kernal”, 35, of Koloa, Kauai, died on March 8, 2014 in Honolulu, HI. She was born in Lihue, Kauai. She was a student.
She is survived by her companion, Kealoha Colipano; mother, Gloria Marie Rita, aunties, uncles, cousins, and hanai children.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 9:00 AM at the Kukuiula Harbor. Donations may be sent to P.O. Box 191 Lawai, HI 96765.

John Kagawa
John Kagawa of Waimea passed away on April 11, 2014 at home at the age of 61. Born on October 29, 1952, in Waimea, Kauai, he was a Boat Builder with Fiber Glass West.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fumio “Fatty” Kagawa & Yoshiko Kagawa, and grand-niece Melina Walker.
He is survived by his Hanai son Anu Callahan, faithful companion Sarah, brother Howard (Shirley) Kagawa of Kentucky; sisters, Ann Kagawa Lee of Honolulu and Mary (Danny) Kagawa Garcia of Waimea; aunty, Doris Shimaoka, Kekaha; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and grand nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on April 22nd 2014 at the Kekaha Boat House. Visit with family and friends from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Services begin at 6:00pm. Family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Mildred Fuertes
Mildred “Millie” Sueko Fuertes of Kekaha, Hawaii passed away at Straub Clinic on April 10, 2014 at the age of 72. Born on September 21, 1941, in Lanai City, Hawaii, she was a retired Teacher with Waimea High School.
She is survived by her husband, Basilio “Tata Bunga” Fuertes, Jr., son Kareem (Nicole) Richard Yutaka Fuertes of Kapolei, daughters, Kimberly (Dennis) Toyoko Kamiya and Cheryl (Buenaflor) Sueko Robles, both of Mililani, brothers, Stanley (Midori) Oshima , Bernard (June) Oshima, and Eugene (Shigemi) Oshima, sister Lilian Rivera, six grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Miyamoto, Andrew Robles, Michael Kamiya, Aaron Kamiya, Katherine Kamiya, and Azia Robles, and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Leila Miyamoto.
Friends may visit with the family on April 19, 2014, from 9:00 am at the Waimea High School Front Lawn. Services will begin at 11:00 am. Family only burial to follow at Waimea Japanese Cemetary. The family suggests aloha attire.
